Big GILSON - Sentenced to Living 2009

Big GILSON - Sentenced to Living 2009

Blues

I just wonder, since day one
Why I’m here, then I’m gone
I’ve been born, on this planet
Change my fate, I just cannot

Blues runs through the veins of this brilliant Brazilian guitarist, who’s also a talented songwriter. B.B. King said about him: "When I see such a young man so far from America, playing the Blues so well, I feel happy and proud that my mission in this life is done"

Big Gilson, who rose up from the streets of Rio de Janeiro to become an internationally recognized blues guitarist, has recruited top talents from Brazil, England, Spain and Canada to make this disc. The end result is Gilson at his incendiary best, with superb backing, on truly inspired originals and some unexpected (but beautifully treated) covers. Big Gilson and Blues Dynamite are indeed 'real' and this CD should cement their reputation as one of the best blues-rock outfits north or south of the equator.

Whenever someone tells me that they prefer 'real' blues or 'real'blues sources, I ask them how often they get to West Africa. Point being, real blues music exists all over our planet. One need not travel to Memphis, Mississippi or Chicago to hear great passion and emotion as expressed by great blues musicians.
And I can't think of a better blues recording to drive home the universality of the genre then the one you are holding in your hand.
