Roy CLARK & Clarence “Gatemouth” BROWN - Makin’ Music 1979

Roy CLARK & Clarence “Gatemouth” BROWN - Makin’ Music 1979
Label: One Way
Audio CD (May 17, 1994)

Blues

I first heard these two master guitarists when they were promoting the album on the Tonight Show in the 1979. It is my recollection that Brown had financial difficulties at the time. Clark was the highest paid performer in country music, and was a fan of Brown. In effort to help out Brown, he cut this album. The result was one of the hottest albums you ever would want to hear. There is no other word to describe this album but Jumping! Country Swing meets Delta Blues! For any fan of this type of music or a fan of fine guitar playing in general... this is a must.

Surround two of the most versatile guitar pickers on the planet in a studio with a cadre of world-class sidemen and what do you get? This irresistible duet album by Gate and Roy Clark, first out on MCA. Good vibes abound as the fun-loving pair blast out "Caldonia," "Take the 'A' Train," "The Drifter," "Justice Blues," and more, trading licks, vocals, and quips with a jam session-oriented looseness.
