Legendary Blues Band - Money Talks 1993
Label: Ichiban / Wild Dog
Blues
Formed in June 1980, the Legendary Blues Band emerged from the Muddy Waters band of the mid to late 70s. The original line-up comprised Jerry Portnoy (b. 25 November 1943, Evanston, Illinois, USA; harmonica), Louis Myers (b. 18 September 1929, Byhalia, Mississippi, USA, d. 5 September 1994, Chicago, Illinois, USA; guitar, harmonica), Pinetop Perkins (b. Joe Willie Perkins, 7 July 1913, Belzoni, Mississippi, USA; piano), Calvin Jones (bass) and Willie "Big Eyes" Smith (drums), with the vocals shared among all the members. There were numerous personnel changes over the subsequent years and Smith and Jones are the only remaining original members. The sound remains solidly in the Chicago blues vein. They recorded two albums for the Rounder Records label in the early 80s before relocating to the Ichiban label at the end of the decade.
